Sustainability at Walkabout Creek Adventures
We care for Enoggera Reservoir and its surrounding forest through responsible paddling, careful resource use and respect for Country.
Energy and climate
Our paddling activities are human-powered. WACA’s on-site operations use no electricity or refrigeration. We combine equipment and maintenance trips where practical and avoid unnecessary vehicle idling.
Water
We use fresh water carefully when cleaning equipment and keep detergents and contaminated runoff out of the reservoir. Equipment moved between waterways is inspected, cleaned, drained and dried before use.
Waste and equipment
We reduce disposable items, packaging and unnecessary printing, and repair equipment where safe. Batteries and electronic waste are kept separate for appropriate disposal. Please take your rubbish home with you.
Wildlife and the shoreline
We use designated access areas and encourage quiet paddling with plenty of space for wildlife. Staff report injured wildlife, pollution and damage to the relevant rescue organisation or site authority.
Community and purchasing
Our school and community group activities help people connect with the outdoors. Our purchasing policy favours suitable local suppliers, durable products and reduced packaging, alongside safety and quality.
Respecting Country
Walkabout Creek Adventures acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the lands and waters on which we meet and operate at Enoggera Reservoir. We pay our respects to Elders past and present and recognise the continuing connection of Aboriginal peoples to Country, culture and community.
How you can help
Bring a reusable bottle, take all rubbish home and leave plants, rocks and other natural objects where you find them. Use designated paths and launch areas. Give wildlife space and never feed, touch or chase animals.
